I have started a new series for this blog called 24 days (I know very original - insert rolling eyes here), in exactly 24 days The Myrabev Life will be celebrating its 1 year anniversary and I am so excited. I can not believe that this blog will be a year old soon, when I started this blog on the back of my main blog A July Dreamer (Then called Purely By Accident) I wanted it to be a place where I shared more personal posts like my Personal Confessions, I wanted to share my Book Reviews, Relationship Advice and also my Healthy Habits and Food choices. This blog has evolved to more than I thought possible and honestly I am very happy with where I am at and the direction I am taking my blog. To kick start my new series I wanted to share with you what I have learned so far on this journey and this is not to say I know it all just my 2 cents worth.
- I have learned Patience in blogging is very important, things take a while and hard work before you start to notice the fruits of your labour and if you are one of the lucky few then you will see it sooner.
- Setting Monthly Goals to help you stay on top of what you want to accomplish. They do not have to be monthly goals they could be weekly or even yearly.
- Success doesn't happen overnight - I am not saying that I am success or even claim to be but giving my two cents here. I feel I have accomplished so many of my goals I set myself when I started and I am very proud of that.
- Socialise and Interact - It is very important to always socialise with the blogging community and readers. When someone comments on your blog reply like as soon as you see it and if its fellow blogger and they have left a link to their site then go visit them and return the courtesy.
- Simple is better - I personally think its important to keep things as simple as possible
Many a people have started blogging for so many reasons and some its only to make money which is not bad but you need to be willing to put in the work. If you started to blog so you can get free stuff then I am sorry to be the one to say it doesn't come as easy as many big bloggers make it look or sound. I have gone through a period where I have applied for so many things and got nothing, why! because I just wasn't what they were looking for. Brands have a certain type of bloggers they look for and to be able to be that kind it takes time and a lot of work and social networking.
These are my two cents on what I have learnt so far, this is not an exhaustive list but my top few. What advice would you give a new blogger?

I would say, blog because you enjoy it and not for any other reason. :)
ReplyDeleteCouldnt agree more, thanks x
DeleteAs a new blogger, I love this advice! It's so much fun to interact with other bloggers. I have come across many new ideas and it's only been 2 months. Thanks for the advice!!!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome and glad I could help, it is important to interact and get to know one another
DeletePatience in blogging is definitely key! Also, on the Christmas note, I'm kind of skipping Christmas this year (in the sense that I'm not having a gift-giving Christmas) because my bf & I are going to New Zealand to spend time with his family.. and I'm SO relieved that I don't have to do any shopping. Wooohoo!
ReplyDeletewooohooo, have fun in New zealand and don't forget to blog it up lol. I am not sure if I will be doing much apart from my parents, siblings and nephew not sure getting anyone anything
DeleteOh my I didn't realise it was that soon until christmas, now youve got me very excited hah :p I've learnt very similar things whilst blogging too. I think I would also advice not to be scared of what to write, write what you want, but also remember to spell check :p x

hahaha christmas is near, thats good advice Tiny. Thank you
Deleteblog because you love it!! And patience is so important. nothing will happen over night.
ReplyDeleteand that food looks delicious
Absolutely nothing happens over night, thank you
DeletePatience is definitely important in terms of blogging! I love blogging because I get to have a creative outlet for my profession. Being a cook/chef means a lot of times you have to cook what others want you to, and bring other people's ideas to life. On my blog, I get to interpret food inspired by what I love! Keep up the great work and here's to many many more years of blogging and success! :) Everyone gets baked goods for Christmas lol. I am not all into the hyped up idea of gift giving obligation. My husband and I surprise our kids with fun gifts and we treat each other to nice things. Everyone else, you get an assortment of pastries. :)
ReplyDeleteI could not agree more Amby and thanks for the advice.
DeleteChristmas is time for family and I think spending time with family is more important than presents and you're probably doing more than me by giving out pastries lol
Yes,love your craft first and everything will flow naturally. Happy blogging!
ReplyDeleteI love reading about your insight. I am in my fifth month of blogging and I can't believe how the time is flying. I have already accomplished more than I thought, but I have some big goals for the next few months.
ReplyDeleteThank you and I am real glad to hear it, good luck with your upcoming goals and hope you accomplish them.
DeleteCongratulations on your 1 year blog anniversary this month. Having blogged for two years now, I would tell any new blogger, to blog about what love, and not compare their achievements to other blogger's achievements, as you're only in competition with yourself x
ReplyDeleteI'm a new blogger myself and you're soo right - patience is a must for bloggers ;) (not checking your stats everyday helps too haha)

10 weeks?! That's NOTHING! *runs to go shopping for Christmas gifts!*
ReplyDeleteAll of this is so true! I look forward to reading more in this series!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on coming up on one year! I would say that new bloggers should sit down and figure out what is the main topic of their blog - to map out all the subjects that fall under that topic and to make a plan on how to stick to it. Your blog is a journey and if you want people to follow you on your path they don't want to get lost along the way!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your upcoming 1 year anniversary and I'm with you there. Simple is so much better.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your *almost* anniversary! It's a huge accomplishment!
ReplyDeleteThis was such a great post! I'd tell new bloggers to write about whatever they want and to do what makes them happy.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on one year! And I love your tips on the things you've learned. I agree with every one of your points--good quality blogs take time to build, you can't just pull out a ton of great content overnight. And socializing is hard--I tend to be shy in these arenas--but so crucial to really connecting with readers. :)
ReplyDeleteI know it sounds cliche, but I would say write about what you love. Great series! And yay for your blog anniversary coming up!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your "almost" anniversary. I am learning a lot as a new blogger and you are giving me some insight. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThis is great advice and I really need to start getting Christmas going. I don't want to be stressed right before Christmas.
ReplyDeletei am seriously freaking out a little over here bc time is just going too fast. i am trying to pretend christmas isn't coming that fast. blogging can be really rewarding but is def hard work like any other job.. and i don't feel like ppl know until they actually try it. :) so people who tell me that my life seems super glamorous all the time.. i always welcome them to try it themselves!
ReplyDeleteReally love the idea of counting down to your blog anniversary! I totally missed mine this summer. And oh Christmas. I'm not decorating, and it's come up a couple of times with my mom on Skype and I don't know, it hasn't hit me yet that I'll probably be all alone during Christmas. It'll just be another day, I guess. But it will also be my first Christmas in London, so I need to make it to central more often - I bet there are lots of pictures to be taken. Oh god, when it's nearer Christmas it's going to feel like Love Actually, isn't it? Excuse me, I'm getting excited over here.
ReplyDeleteYay! Happy early anniversary! My advice to a new blogger would be to stick with it and don't feel pressured to write about things you don't feel passionate about. I'm a new blogger but I felt like I got caught up in writing about certain things in the beginning. Write about what makes you and your blog you :).
ReplyDeleteHappy almost blogiversary! The advice id give a new blogger is take it slow and don't jump all in at once, if you do you'll burn out and end up hating it.
