{Recipe} Healthier and Easy to make Salad

Hi there and welcome to my first ever recipe post on “The Myrabev Life”, for the last two months I have been sharing with you all the lovely vegetarian books I have been reading and reviewing but I am yet to share with you some recipes that I either came up with or got the idea from the books. Today’s recipe I whipped up myself at work and it actually tastes really really good. This is the 2nd most ‘Greens or produce’ containing food I have ever consumed in my adult life, like I mentioned in my last book review post – I grew up with a vegetarian lifestyle one not by choice but by necessity. I remember growing up back home and we used avocado (mashed up and added some sugar for taste) only on bread like you would peanut butter or butter so I was very surprised and shocked to see avocado used in salads, since then I have been on a mission to find a way I can have avocado in my salad. Today I am sharing with you my one little creation I am proud of and so excited to share.
Ingredients:
·         Assortment of beans plus herbs (red kidney beans, borlotti beans, cannellini beans, fresh spring onions, red onions, parsley, mint, sliced black olives) I used Three Bean Salad by Delphi which was marinated in olive oil and herbs.
·         Avocado
·         Tomatoes
·         Salt & black pepper
·         Assortment of salad leaves à I bought the Sainsbury assorted salad
·         Optional – German sausages
Preparation time: under 5 minutes
1.       Cut up the tomatoes to your desired side and sauté with salt/pepper
2.       I prefer my salad leaves really small so I cut mine up and mix with the tomatoes
3.       Microwave the sausages for 1 minute, cut into small desired pieces
4.       Cut up the avocado, I had a whole one (was not too big)
5.       Lastly mix-up everything with the assortment of beans and add a little salt/pepper if you want.

This is how I made my healthy salad (also vegetarian), it contains all the good stuff I need and the best part I still get my piece of meat (even if it’s just small German sausages). Let me know what you think of my little creation, I am just starting out with trying new things so am very excited for the exploring that I can do.

Week 21: Diet ~ Green Juice Challenge

I have decided to start the green juice energy boasting drinks challenge (again), when I say challenge I mean it in a more relaxed way like 1 bottle of juice a day because I figure if I start with the extreme of 3 days only on juice “to cleanse” and 4 days rest well then I will definitely fell by week 2 so easy does it for me when it comes to things like this.

I will be honest I am not a big fun of green juices mostly because they are usually bitter but I am searching for recipes online for some not so bitter green juices. If you have any good ones please share with a sister here, I will update you in 2 weeks how my challenge progresses either be a pass or a fail.

Week 21: Exercise ~ Self Motivation

I am a self motivated individual but even the best of us can get beat under the carpet, because when it's cold I feel like I should throw in the towel with my exercise but then I remember I started exercising to firstly get tired enough to sleep (insomnia issues) and secondly get healthier and fit back into my skinny size 10 jeans. Though I have achieved the basic goals I want to keep at it and keep fit for my future as well, you just have to turn on the telly or open a health & fitness magazine to see how everyone is talking about how been unfit can lead to an earlier visit to your grave. I do not like that concept but I do appreciate that I have to maintain my body, keep fit and eat healthily to the best of my abilities. So how am I doing that? How am I keeping fit? Eating healthier? And motivating myself?
If you have read my Benefits of exercise post you will remember that I explained what exercise classes I do each week, my favorite one is Spin. let me tell you a little about spin and the benefits that are associated with spin class and what have experienced personally.

Spin classes
"A spinning workout is an excellent way to burn some calories and relieve stress. The workout employs a stationary bike, which has various tension levels. The bike will also track your progress, so that you are motivated to continue and accomplish your fitness goals. There are numerous benefits to a spinning workout". A workout of 45 minutes may allow you to burn around 500 calories, but the amount of calories you burn will depend on the intensity of the workout. spinning workout may help you build some muscle tone. The workout will focus on the core muscles, as well as the buttocks and thighs. spinning workout is a low impact exercise. This means that it won't put pressure on knees and joints, as other aerobic or running exercises do.

Personal Experience

  • In 3 weeks I attended 7 spin classes and I toned up so much that I came down a dress size, I was slowly moving up to size 12UK but I am back to size 10UK so happy about this
  • I feel more energetic which is a blessing and a curse because due to too much energy I find it hard to sleep
  • My skin is amazing, the softness is unbelievable, I have always has soft and smooth skin but its 10 times better now
Motivation!!!
  • When you cant fit in your favorite feature in the closet then you need to start working out, that's one of my motivation but mostly to get fitter and healthier drives to do these classes every week and I still keep eating what I eat.
  • Family history of any disease usually makes people to something about it e.g. go work out so that they don't experience the same.
  • I work out for me and for my man, I want to look good for him as much as I want to look good for me.
Thank you for reading my post, please do let me know what you think and also what motivates you to do exercises!!!

Week 1 - Personal Confessions: Diet & Exercise

Hey Guys&Dolls

Happy Monday! Yesterday I was on the train returning from visiting G when I saw something I have been thinking about a lot lately and that's dieting and exercising. I am not going to do the traditional diet I will just mainly cut down my sugar content and exercise more.

I think the STARS have aligned because my star (cancer) this week or rather last week echos my thoughts.

My diet will mirror the Special K diet but not completely instead of eating cereal all day for 2 weeks I will have cereal of my choice at breakfast and super and I will eat a healthy and nutritious lunch and exercise after work.

My exercise plan is quite simple it will mainly involve classes and no full gym experience.

Monday - Spin class for 1hr
Tuesday - Zumba class for 1hr
Wednesday - Spin class for 1hr
Thursday - Legs/Bums/Tums and Abs workout
Friday - off
Saturday - off
Sunday - off

This exercise plan I have been using for the past 2 weeks with an exception of Tuesday and a few classes here and there.
At present I am 75kg and I will weigh myself 2 weeks today to see if there has been any weigh loss or tonning.

Thank you for reading my blog! I really appreciate you reading my blog, please know I love comments and appreciate them.
